We had heard alot about Kamikochi from our friends but remained somewhat skeptical about the emphatic claims of how beautiful and untouched the area really is. We have travelled so much in Japan and are constantly disappointed when our high hopes for 'beautifulness of nature life' are always framed, divided and spliced by powerlines, powerlines, powerlines. Kamikochi came through! A breath of fresh air and almost no cables in this "car-less resort" (you have to leave your car outside the park and take a bus or a dodgy taxi).
